Under new Ofcom rules, as of 1st July 2019, mobile phone customers can leave their network by simply sending a free text message to their existing provider.
A recent Ofcom survey revealed that 31% of mobile switchers found it difficult to cancel their previous service. Also, 45% of people decide against switching, because they think the process will be too time-consuming
Ofcom has decided to simplify the way customers and business can change mobile providers. They believe the new switching process will provide a greater choice and flexibility to find the best deal.
Lindsey Fussell, Ofcom’s Consumer Group Director, said: “Breaking up with your mobile provider has never been easier thanks to Ofcom’s new rules. You won’t need to have that awkward chat with your current provider to take advantage of the great deals available.”
