Prudential Ride London - Surrey 46 mile #ridelondon - 30th July 2017

Cyclists Fighting Cancer (CFC) is a registered charity founded in 2005 to provide a unique and highly effective way of helping kids with cancer through activity and exercise.

Neil and Sam, two directors at Telecoms World, who are keen cyclists will be participating in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46 event to raise money for Cyclists Fighting Cancer. The sportive event comprises a spectacular 46-mile route on traffic-free roads, beginning at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in east London and finishes in The Mall. The goal is to raise £1000 for the charity through their Just Giving Page to support their ongoing work helping children and young people fight and overcome the terrible disease they are facing

‍The effects of cancer and the associated treatment regimes in children can lead to amputations, balance issues, physical weakness, coordination difficulties and lack of self-esteem. Exercise has been shown in numerous adult studies to be the single most effective way of improving both physical and mental wellness for people surviving cancer. Cyclists Fighting Cancer provide new bikes, tandems and specially adapted trikes to children and young people who have been affected by the terrible disease.

They rely on the generosity of the public for donations as well as through various fundraising events to fund the new bikes, trikes and tandems for children and young people living with and beyond cancer throughout the UK.

£100 Funds an assessment visit

Since Cyclists Fighting Cancer started in 2005, they have awarded over 2500 bikes and/or equipment to children with the plan to supply another 500 awards this year; taking the total to over 3000 awarded cases. In addition, they have funded dedicated research study with the University of Leeds to clearly illustrate the relationship between physical and mental well-being and physical activity in children surviving cancer. They main focus is raising awareness and providing a bespoke service to each individual applicant where possible.
