PhoneLine+ FAQs
Common questions about PhoneLine+ cloud phone service. Learn about VoIP, number porting, PSTN switch-off, and how PhoneLine+ works for your business.
What is PhoneLine+?
PhoneLine+ takes a traditional 01 or 02 number and places it in the cloud. This removes the connection to the copper PSTN network with calls are made and received using internet data, similar to VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol). PhoneLine+ calls are managed using an internet portal with incoming and outgoing calls made through a mobile application, desktop softphone or traditional handset with an ATA.
My local exchange is becoming data only, how do I keep my business number?
Our porting team transfer your telephone number from the PSTN network to the cloud using a quick 3 step process. We require documentation on your existing provider using a recent bill, a porting confirmation document and a letter of authority. This information is used to submit the port and once agreed our engineers handle the process to activate your number in the hosted network and ensure it remains with your business.
Is PhoneLine+ a type of VoIP service?
VoIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol where voice is transferred to data and carried over the internet. PhoneLine+ is a cloud-hosted service which works using the same methods as VoIP, however this solution is based around individual numbers and call routing rather than complete PBX functionality and agents as seen in a VoIP platform.
